Heat n Bond lite is my choice for raw edge applique, whether I’m machining or hand buttonhole stitching. It is light and flexible and easy to sew through. For adhering woven wool, it provides a nice surface upon which to use a glue stick when adding layers (due to the heat properties of wool it will not adhere to itself). Sold in 1/2m cuts, folded, with instructions.
